Zeolites with disordered framework structures are only poorly described within the format of the Database of Zeolite Structures. In an attempt to present information suitable for such disordered zeolites, this complementary Database of Disordered Zeolite Structures has been created by Christian Baerlocher, Lynne B. McCusker, Hermann Gies and Bernd Marler.
The concept, design and layout were developed by the whole team during the autumn of 2022, starting with zeolite Beta as the prototype. The design was then expanded and adjusted as other types of disordered structures were incorporated. Discussions regarding how the disorder is best described in a concise and transparent manner, sometimes led to a presentation that differs somewhat from that in the original publications. The authors have done their best to describe the disorder in each family according to information available in the literature, but to get a full overview, the user should refer to the original literature.
The more specific contributions can be summarized approximately as follows:
Christian Baerlocher: project coordination, structure of the database, construction of webpages.
Lynne B. McCusker: creation of images for the connectivity patterns and the polymorphs
Hermann Gies: simulation of XRD powder patterns for intergrowth series using DIFFaX
Bernd Marler: providing the measured powder patterns and input for the disorder examples
Terms of Use
The data in the Database of Disordered Zeolite Structures (including the Database for Zeolite Structures) are provided as is. While we strive to be as careful as possible, no warranty, explicit or implicit, is given as to the data's accuracy or correctness.
The data are copyright protected, but can be used free of charge for private purposes (e.g. in research in any institution or company). However, the data may not be used commercially, in the sense that they cannot be sold as such or included as part of a package that is distributed commercially without written consent of the owner. The owner may be the maintainer of the database or, in the case of observed data, the person who provided those data to the database.
